Promoting
Positive Relationships Between Parents And Young Children When There
Are Two Homes
This
popular booklet was developed to assist parents as they make custody
and visitation decisions for their young children (ages 0 to 3).
It describes the emotional and developmental needs of young children,
and suggests ways that shared parenting time can be sensitive to
those needs. An excellent resource for parents, attorneys, Friend
of the Court officers, and judges, the booklet:
- Suggests
how parent and child can develop and maintain a loving, strong,
and growing relationship despite the stresses, frustrations,
and disappointments which may occur when a child's parents are
not a smoothly functioning team
- Indicates
how infants and young children communicate when stress and change
are overwhelming them
- Provides
guidelines about separation which will be least damaging to the
child's development
- Offers
possible solutions to problems of raising a child in two different
homes
- Includes
extensive reading lists for parents, children and professionals
