FOUNDED IN
1972 by Donna J. Stone, Prevent Child Abuse America (formerly
the National committee to Prevent Child Abuse) is the nation's
leading child abuse prevention organization. PCA America is
committed to preventing child abuse in all its forms — physical
abuse, emotional maltreatment, neglect and sexual abuse — by
working at national, state and local levels.
In 1999,
Children's Charter of the Courts of Michigan became state co-chapter
of Prevent Child Abuse Michigan.
Our partner in these efforts is the Children’s Trust Fund.
Children's Charter's proven success at statewide advocacy,
community-level program organizing and support, and collaboration
building made it a natural choice the state chapter for PCA.
Through out
partnership with the Children’s Trust Fund, we;
§
Provide
leadership in state-level advocacy to enhance prevention policies
and programs in Michigan
§
Increase
public awareness of child abuse prevention through the development
and distribution of resource materials, and by working with PCA-America
on the promotion of national media campaigns.
§
Act
as a source of comprehensive information on child abuse prevention
§
Promote
promising strategies, supported by research, at both the state and
local levels so that communities have access to the information,
skills and resources necessary to provide meaningful services for
families with young children.
