Ottawa County's Juvenile Court began CASA in 1985, where it operated for 10 years. In 1997, funding from the Stop Child Abuse and Neglect Council helped reestablish CASA as a program of the Children's Resource Network. Ottawa County alone has over 2,000 cases of reported child abuse and neglect every year. In the past year this program's 12 volunteers served 23 children. Funding was recently received from National CASA to expand the program's volunteer base, so more children can be served.
